Fifty Shades – E.L. James

Having managed to rid myself of some books which I was never going to read again, I’ve started restocking my reading material once again. I love rummaging through Oxfam’s book section, checking out Play’s top reading list and looking out for new, interesting reads.

I first heard of the Fifty Shades trilogy through a comment posted on a friend’s Facebook page, after she had asked for some new books. After Googling up the name, I knew I had to get the books. So I’ve just purchased and received the first book, Fifty Shades of Grey and I can’t wait to get started on it this weekend!

It’s an adult read, labelled as ‘erotic fiction’. According to Wikipedia, the book has been labelled as ‘Mummy Porn’, mainly due to its’ demographic fanbase – married and over 30 – that’s me!

I found the best deal on Amazon.co.uk. Of course other sellers such as Play.com and Ebay stock the book as well, so you have no excuse to get it if you’re interested 😉

  1. Angela, I’m a couple of chapters in the book, and I’m hooked! It’s a great adult read! I’d definitely give it a go if I were you 🙂

  2. In the States, Fifty Shades is such a hit!! There was a time when Barnes & Nobles and other big bookstores ran out of copies. And all the talk shows were talking about this hot read. As a result, everyone was looking for them on ebay and the price sky-rocketed in the $100s. An autographed copy sold in the thousands at auction! (crazy Americans!) I have the trilogy on my kindle and cannot wait to dig into them… just need to finish Hunger Games! Another good read was The Gun Seller – H. Laurie. For those of you who know him, my best friend’s husband Robert, is an avid reader and he always suggests the best books. It goes without saying, that it was me that told him about the Fifty Shades trilogy LOL!!

    • Every book list is topped by this book! I am soon starting the second one and just bought the third. I’m captivated 🙂 And a first just lent me first 2 books of the Hunger Games! I will look for the book you mentioned Chris!
