Fifty Shades…

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about buying and starting to read the first book from the Fifty Shades trilogy – Fifty Shades of Grey.

I read it in a couple of days. I’d definitely have read it quicker if I had more time on my hands, but all I could manage were a chapter or two just before bedtime. It somehow isn’t the sort of book you can read while taking care of a baby during the day. If you read the book, you’ll know what I mean!

Did I like it?

No.

I loved it!

The book is not for the light-hearted or the easily offended. I can confirm it is ‘mummy’s porn’, but it also has a sweet story-line to it. I couldn’t help comparing it to Twilight, another book which made me feel all giddy and sent me back to my teenage years when I spent days drooling after the dark horses I read about in my Mills & Boon.

This book however is much more adult, the theme is darker and the author describes Mr. Grey and Miss Steele’s time together in very graphic detail. And I mean, VERY graphic detail.

I’ve now started Fifty Shades Darker and just bought the last one Fifty Shades Freed. I truly wish I had more energy at the end of the day because I’m taking forever to finish the books, but then I should be grateful I’m getting any reading done!
I’m curious to see how the trilogy will end. I’ve also read somewhere that a film is being made. I don’t normally like film adaptations of books. They also seem to leave the important bits out and the book gives you so much more than a 90-minute film can. But I think I will see this one. Yes, I think I will 🙂

  1. mills and boon????? seriously????lol jo!!! yes, i have to admit there is something quite alluring about the arab sheik/business tycoon/berber nomad with dark eyes, astounding sexual prowess, trembling loins, and my favourite, a ‘quivering member’! and the men all seemed to be wearing very big blouses on the cover. oh dear, i’ll have to check these books out. thanks for the heads up!

  2. I think you’re the second person who mentioned this book so I think I’ll put it into my soon to read book list!

Jos, this thought just crossed my mind… imagine all these ladies reading this ‘mummy porn’, getting into the mood, and in 9 months’ time we’ll experience the FIFTY SHADES BABY BOOM!!!! lol 🙂
