After reading Kate’s post on her blog today, I immediately knew I’d do this and blog about it myself. I love music and the sense of association it brings about. Each and every one of my favourite songs has a particular memory attached to it. Music is an important part of my life. And so I bring you:
Six Songs of Me!
1. What was the first song you ever bought?
The first cassette I ever bought with my own money was Madonna’s True Blue album, mainly for La Isla Bonita. I thought Madonna is her Spanish attire was so cool! 25 years later, I still think the same!
2. What song always gets you dancing?
This is a no-brainer for me. If you know me, you’ll know how much I
love adore this song. It got me dancing the first time I heard it as a Uni student and still does today – as recently as at a wedding we had last month on The Rock. A lives in the hope that I’ll someday outgrow this song…HAHAHA joke’s on you my friend!
3. What song takes you back to your childhood?
I blogged about this a couple of weeks ago. Whenever I hear this song, I am thrown back to the 80s, I am a young girl crying my eyes out because that ‘scary man’ (aka Michael Jackson) was back on TV scaring the living daylights out of me. Nowadays the crying has stopped, but the video still unsettles me. Maybe it’s because he eventually did morph into that ghost/corpse-like man at the end of his life.
4. What is your perfect love song?
It would have to be our first-dance song at our wedding (well one of them anyways. The other one is just as special). Paul Weller is a god in my eyes, and this song has the most beautiful lyrics – so much so that it’s a guaranteed tear-jerker. I could hear it for hours and not get bored. I love it that much.
5. What song would you want at your funeral?
Now this is a morbid question, one I’ve never thought about. If I had to choose, it would have to be Comfortably Numb. It was my dad’s favourite one and for that reason I’ve never managed to listen to it from start to finish ever again in the 6+ years he’s been gone. But I’d like it to be played when I’m gone. It wouldn’t matter then.
6. What song makes you you?
It has to be this one. I may get knocked down at times, I may fail at other times, but nothing and nobody will keep me down. Plus, this is a goofy, silly, don’t-take-life-too-seriously kind of song. Get jumping now 😉
Tell me your Six Songs! I think nothing explains a person better than the music s/he listens to. I’d love to know yours 😉
